Viewing by month: July 2009

I haven't done this in awhile, but with little league season, I had to get a shot in at I Heart Faces.

Here's Dan, he loves to catch :-)

Catcher's Joy

Head over to www.iheartfaces.com to check out all of the other entries this week!

It turned into body painting.ᅠ I'd anticipated that, so Kate was in her bathing suit.ᅠ After that she played on the slip'n slide, just to wash the paint out.

I'm debuting a watermark on my photos.ᅠ I don't want to be pretentious but really wouldn't like it if someone appropriated my photos for some other kind of use.ᅠ It's happened.

Kate

She didn't want privacy while going potty today.ᅠ It was going to be awhile, so we chatted.

Kate: "Mom, remember when I was a baby in your belly and I used to kick you?"ᅠ

Me: "Yes, I remember, and I loved that."

Kate: "Mom, I played with K. and Z. today. I'm going to marry Z., but he said he doesn't want to marry me."

Me: "That's okay, he doesn't have to if he doesn't want to".

Kate: "I can marry J. and we can have babies."

Me: "That might work, I think you and J. would have beautiful babies." (I'm telling you, they'd be super cute those kids.)

Kate: "Mohom, boys don't have babies."

Me: "Sure they do, they don't carry them in their bellies, but they are just as much their babies too.ᅠ You're as much daddies baby as you are mine."

We discussed how many babies she'dᅠ have (a boy and a girl). We talked about what babies eat. At which point I indoctrinate her and tell her little babies should only have nursies and not bottles. I hope it sticks :-)

Me: "Are you done yet?"

Kate: "I've been done a long time already!"

I love having these conversations with my favorite girl!

Only happens once every 100 years.

They wanted to go to McDonalds' Play Place. It's a place I hate. It sometimes smells bad and the germs just scare me. Kate told me that she can handle the germies. So ... I took a deep sigh, and let them have their fun.

My (belated ... should write a post about that) birthday present came on Monday.ᅠ My sweet husband surprised me with a Nikon D300, the camera I've been drooling over for so long.ᅠ I have dearly loved my D50 and the creativity it allowed me.ᅠ Before that I loved my point and shoot Olympus, which was also awesome in its class.ᅠ But there comes a time when you outgrow your toys and need to move on to the next level.
Hopefully my personal level matches the level of this next wonderful toy.

It's indeed an upgrade, and takes getting used to, but I'm in love.
Here are some images (Picasa messed them up a bit, IRL they're much crisper and sharper):

I'm hoping to be able to spend a lot more time with my new toy next week. For now work calls ....

I moved to another blogging template.ᅠ It was a bit of a pain to import all my old posts and to make sure all the old comments were preserved, but I'm excited.ᅠ It's now powered by Mango Blog and hopefully that'll help me learn more about ColdFusion and also give me an opportunity to style and modify things as I see fit.ᅠ

I've been busy with work, and haven't had a chance to customize the design yet, hopefully soon!

About

My blog, where I share whatever I feel like: photos, stories, things I don't want to forget, and once in awhile ... an actual opinion.
