We had been trying to get to the Big Run Wolf Ranch this summer, and never managed to make it. Yesterday (with Kate's friend Jack and his mom) we finally did.

It's hard for a 4 year old to focus on people talking about animals for longer than a few minutes. So we got to hear lots of whining from the kids. They did love the horse back ride though, and the hot dogs.

What I think is a muscovy duck:

Kate got to sit on a horse (it makes her very happy):

This was in between telling me to "stop take pictures Mama" and "leave me alone".

I love this girl.

This is my favorite of over 100 photos I shot while she was blowing bubbles. That might be a separate post, but I really wanted to share this one!

(click on it to enlarge it to its original size).

As a kid I had a record with this sappy song "Hey, did you happen to see the most beautiful girl in the world." She makes me think of that song quite often.

So far so good. The first night was rough, she woke up at 4 am and wouldn't go back to sleep. The next 2 nights were ordinary length sleep nights. She's truly on her way to being a big girl!

In my (not so humble opinion), baseball is one of the more boring sports. I didn't enjoy softball in high school. There's just too much waiting involved. Waiting until it's your turn at bat, waiting for someone else to hit the ball while you're somewhere inteh field, waiting and hoping a ball will come your way and you get to try and catch it.

The boys are getting ready for little league games. So dad did the all American dad thing and went to the park to hit some balls with them.
Kate insisted on coming with, and that's when I decided to bring my camera along.
It was close to dusk and getting rather dark, so nice and sharp fast action shots just weren't going to happen. These still "spoke" to me though.

Kate was going to play "ball girl" at first, but that was too boring and she went on over to the park. She loves the swings and the big climbing thing that clearly says "Ages 5-12". She can't read, obviously, and climbs all over the thing.

Swings make her happy :-)

I'd never let anyone take photos of me in the morning. I look pretty bad, hair sticking out in all directions, puffy eyes, the works. When you're 2, you can look mighty cute though. (Don't mind the annoying Dora cup she loves it.)

This is the sharpest photo I took this morning. I love that 1.8 lens.
